Our local climate:
If you like the idea of four seasons, although not very distinct, then you will certainly enjoy our delightful Hilton Head Island weather . Much to our advantage, the local climate is considered to be semi-tropical. The mid-winter temperature will customarily range from about the 60ºs during the day to the lower 40ºs at night. The spring and fall seasons are an absolute delight with mild day and evening temperatures.

The neighborhoods of Hilton Head Island area:
There are many distinct communities in the Hilton Head area, each with their own unique appeal. Many are gated self contained communities offering an array of amenities ranging from golf & tennis club memberships to private beach access. Other areas are common and open to the public having their own special charm and appeal offering beach access to everyone.

Hilton Head Island's Economy:
Our economy is primarily tourism and real estate driven. More then $1.5 billion impacted the Hilton Head Island/Bluffton-Okatie economy in 2000 by 2.5 million visitors, several hundred of whom made the move permanent. Presently, there are more than 600 real estate executives employed on the Island. 61% of local jobs are tourism-related. Approximately 43 percent of the 5,000 licensed Island enterprises are retail and service-oriented companies. Retail operations and restaurants in particular have flourished in the Hilton Head Island/ Bluffton-Okatie area.

Hilton Head Island employs a council-manager form of government, with six council members elected from their respective wards and mayor elected at-large. Both the council persons and the mayor serve two-year terms. Hilton Head Island is situated within Beaufort County, which employs a governing County Council, elected to serve four-year staggered terms.
